In the morning, under the guidance of Application R&D Director Guo Shijian and Application R&D Lab Director Xu Xiaoyan, attendees visited the R&D center at Maxunitech Inc.‘s Hangzhou headquarters. Through site visits to the synthesis lab, new drug creation lab, environmental lab, formulation lab, analytical lab, and bioassay lab, participants witnessed the company’s robust R&D capabilities and advanced scientific equipment.

The afternoon discussion meeting was chaired by Mr. Zhong Yi, Deputy General Manager in charge of domestic trade at Maxunitech Inc.

Dr. Huang Mingzhi, General Manager of Maxunitech Inc., introduced the company’s developments in R&D, production, and marketing to the guests. Over 24 years of growth, Maxunitech has evolved into a multinational enterprise group integrating R&D, production, sales, and application.
The company prioritizes innovation to deliver high-quality, cost-effective products and technologies, ensures safe production for timely, sustainable, and competitive supply, and emphasizes marketing and customer service to achieve mutual benefits and create value for end-users. Upholding the spirit of “The First and The Best,” Maxunitech operates under the philosophy of solving business challenges through technology, creating customer value, and pursuing corporate growth. It provides high-quality products, technologies, and services for the agrochemical crop protection industry.
Maxunitech has distinguished products for cotton crops and was one of the earliest companies in China to export herbicides, plant growth regulators, and defoliants for cotton fields to the U.S. Currently, it is the sole global manufacturer of technical Flumioxazin, the largest global producer of Pyroxasulfone, and one of three domestic producers of Thidiazuron technical.
Recognizing Xinjiang’s importance as a major producer of cotton, grains, fruits, and vegetables, Maxunitech is optimistic about the region’s crop protection market. The company aims to leverage its overseas experience in full lifecycle solutions for crops like cotton to enhance its domestic offerings. This includes developing competitive herbicides for herbicide-resistant cotton, tackling challenges in other crop cultivation, and intensifying product and technical promotions, user guidance, and training for distributors and farmers. Maxunitech seeks to build symbiotic partnerships with distributors for mutual success.

Director Xu Xiaoyan of Maxunitech Inc.’s Application R&D Center presented a report titled “Product Development and Market Outlook for Xinjiang.” The company adheres to the principle of “market-driven, differentiated products,” targeting key challenges in the market to develop unique solutions that provide a competitive edge. Currently, Maxunitech offers specialized pre-emergent and foliar herbicides for crops like cotton, wheat, rice, soybeans, peanuts, alfalfa, corn, as well as in landscaping and non-cultivated land management.
Director Xu highlighted the following achievements and developments:
1. Thidiazuron: The company’s technical-grade Thidiazuron now holds over 70% of the U.S. market share, with formulations capturing more than 30%.
2. New Cotton Field Products:
- Helistar: A new pre-emergent herbicide with low application rates, aligning with the national “double reduction” policy, demonstrating significant market potential.
- Cotton Yield Enhancement Plan: Proven in field trials from 2023 to 2024, this approach improves boll retention and weight, achieving a yield increase of over 20%.
- Low-Temperature Defoliant with Bindweed Control: Outperforms 2% pyribenzoxim in efficacy.
3. Future Developments:
- A focus on pre-emergent herbicides while expanding into insecticides, plant growth regulators, nutrients, and microbial agents.
- Solutions addressing broadleaf weed control challenges in crops like watermelon, chili, tomato, sunflower, licorice, alfalfa, and peanuts, aiming for market introduction soon.
Attendees expressed enthusiasm for these innovations and their upcoming market availability.

Mr. Wang Lin, Distinguished Researcher at Xinjiang Agricultural Reclamation Academy and former Director of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps Agricultural Technology Extension Station, attended for guidance. He reflected on his 40 years of experience, noting that practical farming challenges exceed current knowledge. To better serve agriculture and farmers, he advised continuous learning to address various agricultural issues.
When Solanum nigrum and other noxious weeds in Xinjiang cotton fields were problematic, the Corps' Agricultural Extension Station promoted Longcaojing® only after strict trials proved its safety for cotton and effectiveness against Solanum nigrum.
Though effective, the current use of paclobutrazol for wheat growth control and lodging prevention poses unacceptable residue issues. Paclobutrazol significantly impacts the nervous system and leaves residues in wheat and subsequent crops like tomatoes and peppers, affecting exports. For health and quality of life, he recommended high-efficiency, low-toxicity products like Trinexapac-ethyl.
His passionate speech about agricultural dedication and continuous learning inspired all attendees.

Mr. Ma Mingliang, Chairman of Maxunitech Inc., outlined the company's 20+ years of development. Maxunitech Inc. is a fully integrated company encompassing R&D, production, application promotion, and sales. Since 2003, the company began developing Flumioxazin technical, exporting it to the U.S. in 2007. Through comprehensive R&D capabilities, the company achieved cost reduction and efficiency improvements, contributing significantly to the product's global application.
The company invests approximately 4% annually in R&D, focusing on developing full lifecycle solutions for major crops and selling these products globally. Currently, it has registered over 300 products with sales in more than 70 countries. The company faces common challenges including overcapacity, intense internal competition, e-commerce disruption, and escalating market competition. Mr. Ma sought to discuss future development strategies and solutions with the guests.

Mr. Qu Hongjie, Regional Manager of Maxunitech Inc. in Wusu, provided an in-depth analysis of six major challenges facing channel customers. Attending guests actively participated in discussions, highly endorsing the effectiveness and safety of products including Longcaojing®, Longlijing®, Kuike®, and Heqingxian®. They recommended strengthening market management to maintain orderly business operations and ensure systematic product sales.

In the evening, Maxunitech Inc. hosted the 2024 Xinjiang Key Customer Appreciation Dinner. Ms. Jia Qun, Domestic Sales Director of Maxunitech, delivered a speech. She reviewed the company's 10-year development in Xinjiang: entering the market with defoliants in 2014; trial sales of Longcaojing® in 2017, followed by large-scale promotion in 2018, achieving a 17-fold growth in usage area. Longcaojing® gained rapid acceptance among cotton farmers due to its safety for cotton and excellent control of nightshade and other weeds.
The company subsequently developed three soil-applied herbicides - Kuike®, Longlijing®, and Heqingxian® - tailored for different soil types, weed conditions, and climates in North and South Xinjiang cotton regions. By 2022, these four products reached 60% market share in their target markets.
The company also developed topping agent Longlongmao® and Heding, defoliants Hemianlong® and Mianlijia®, plant growth regulator Hedafeng, insecticide Helihu®, and plant nutrient Tefumei® to provide optimal solutions for cotton farmers' yield and quality improvement.
These achievements were attributed to the strong support of Xinjiang key customers. Looking ahead, amid economic downturn and market oversupply, Maxunitech will leverage its strong R&D capabilities and global resource integration to continue providing competitive product lines and technical services to key customers, contributing to farmers' income growth and agricultural development.

At the appreciation dinner, Xinjiang customers showcased their diverse talents through singing and dancing, bringing the atmosphere to a climax.

The successful 2024 Xinjiang Key Customer Conference demonstrated Maxunitech Inc.'s comprehensive capabilities and strengthened cooperation with customers across Xinjiang regions. Together, we unite our strengths to create a future of mutual success.
